TEHRAN – Iran exported 18,300 tons of chicken meat to other countries since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20), the head of Iran’s Poultry Farmers Union said.

According to Ali Ebrahimi, Iranian chicken meat is currently exported to Iraq, Turkmenistan, Oman, Qatar and Afghanistan, IRNA reported.

Ebrahimi said every month about 3,000 tons of chicken meat is exported to foreign destinations.

The Iranian government removed the ban on chicken exports in the last month of the previous Iranian year as the production exceeded the domestic need.
